Against the backdrop of a sharp global trade downturn, China's foreign trade imports and exports have shown counter-trend growth.
Industry insiders point out that this is attributable to a series of timely policies introduced by central and local governments to stabilize foreign trade and help foreign trade enterprises overcome difficulties. These targeted measures have been continuously implemented, effectively promoting the stabilization and recovery of foreign trade, demonstrating the strong resilience and vitality of the Chinese economy.
From the data perspective, China's foreign trade growth in the first 11 months of this year has risen against the trend, with sound momentum and strong resilience. Experts point out that this is due to the effective control of the domestic epidemic, the resumption of normal production capacity, and China's role as a strong supplier of global anti-epidemic materials. External demand has continued to expand, especially for anti-epidemic materials and products related to the "stay-at-home economy."
Xu Hongcai, deputy director of the Economic Policy Committee of the China Policy Science Research Association, said: "This year's foreign trade performance is closely related to the epidemic. Exports of epidemic-related products have grown substantially, such as anti-epidemic materials, especially goods related to the stay-at-home economy, which have shown strong growth momentum. This also reflects changes in the external epidemic situation. With people staying at home, the way economic activities are conducted has changed significantly. For home appliances, such as microwave ovens, coffee machines, and household computers, refrigerators, color TVs, air conditioners, etc., this shows that our domestic enterprises have seized new business opportunities arising from market changes, reflecting the strong growth and resilience of the Chinese economy, especially foreign trade exports."
Affected by the epidemic this year, China's foreign trade development has faced exceptionally complex and severe risks and challenges. Central and local governments have timely introduced a series of policies to stabilize foreign trade and relieve the difficulties of foreign trade enterprises. Starting from the aspects most concerned by foreign trade enterprises, such as customs clearance facilitation, export tax rebates, tax reduction and fee cuts, these policies have effectively stabilized the fundamentals of foreign trade and formed a joint force to promote its stable growth and quality improvement.
In addition, a series of targeted measures, including the establishment of new cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, support for the transformation and development of processing trade, and the holding of the "Cloud Canton Fair," have been continuously implemented, effectively promoting the stabilization and recovery of foreign trade.
Xu Hongcai added: "For example, we have focused on building three business cards for promoting foreign trade cooperation, such as the Canton Fair, the China International Import Expo, and the Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services. At the same time, policies supporting cross-border e-commerce, trade facilitation, and foreign trade imports and exports of small and micro enterprises and private enterprises have all been implemented effectively."
Industry insiders point out that the accelerated growth of foreign trade once again shows the momentum of China's economic recovery and fully demonstrates the strong resilience and growth potential of the Chinese economy.
